House Plant Care – Correcting Common Problems

To develop and blossom, all plants depend on having essential care — including the right temperature, humidity, sun exposure, and nutrients — as well as water. When there is an imbalance among these elements your plant will tell you, exhibiting common signs such as yellowing leaves or brown spots. The problem is, each of these problem signs can have different causes. Yellowing of leaves can be a sign of both over- and under-watering! So it can be tricky to determine what is happening with your plant.

That’s why to be a good plant parent you also have to be a bit of a private investigator. Examine the evidence your plant is giving you and determine your best course of action. You may need to start by making one change to observe its’ effects on your plant. If the problem persists, additional steps can be taken to correct the problem.

In this series of articles we will help you identify and treat common plant problems, with advice on how to make sure your diagnosis is correct, and what you can do to prevent the problem in the future. We predict that a green thumb is in YOUR future!
