Roses are perhaps one of the nation’s most well-known and popular plants and they are also the United States national flower. In 1986 President Ronald Regan declared the rose the national flower emblem of the United States. He made this declaration while standing in the famous White House Rose Garden.
Over the year’s roses have expanded to include endless varieties that lure in gardeners of all skills with the promise of both large and small blooms, vibrant color, and fragrance ranging from mild to incredibly bold. Once considered a high maintenance plant, newer varieties such as the Knockout and OSO Easy have made having roses in your landscape easier than ever.
