Work the White's Way
Wear the red vest. We’ll teach you the rest.
Whether you’re starting fresh or bringing years of experience, you’re welcome at White’s. What we ask is that you bring a friendly attitude, a desire to help people, and a willingness to learn. We’ll build on what you already know and teach you how we take care of customers and each other. That’s the White’s Way.

• Our Why
Represent our family name by taking care of the people who work here and the communities we serve. We want White's to be a place where team members are respected, supported, and given the opportunity to grow, and where customers know they will be helped, cared about, and remembered. In a busy world, we bring back simpler times where service is personal, relationships matter, and every visit feels like home.
• What working the White’s Way means
Taking care of people starts with the people who work here. These commitments apply to every role and every leader.
What you can expect from us
You should expect leaders who treat you with respect, explain what is expected, teach you how we work, and give you honest feedback. We will listen when something isn’t working and help you build your skills, product knowledge and confidence. As you develop, we’ll help you prepare for greater responsibility and consider opportunities that fit your interests, abilities and the needs of the business.
What we look for in you
Helping people at White’s means taking care of customers, supporting teammates, and keeping the store ready. We share what we know, step in when someone needs help, and follow through on our responsibilities. We expect you to be dependable, treat others with kindness and respect, and take pride in your work. Most store positions require working at least one weekend day.
We won’t get everything right every day. When we fall short, we need to recognize it, understand what happened, and improve the way we work.
• Built by a family and carried forward by our team
Steve and Sharon White opened their first hardware store in 1977. They were new to the hardware business and learned alongside the people who helped them build it. Today, two generations of the White family lead the company, and our teams carry its reputation forward in Carmel, Geist and Fishers. That work happens in everyday moments: listening to a customer’s project, sharing what you know, keeping shelves stocked and the store ready, and stepping in to help a teammate. Whether you’re helping someone find a solution or taking care of the work behind the scenes, your effort shapes the experience people have at White’s.
• The White’s Way
We carry the White’s name together. These eight standards guide how we serve customers, support one another, and improve our work.
1. We carry the White’s name together.
2. We don’t cut corners.
3. Be a student and a teacher.
4. Whoever’s closest, responds.
5. We make every customer feel seen, valued, and heard.
6. Ace gives us the shelf. We make it White’s.
7. A problem seen is a problem owned.
8. One White’s. One standard. Every time.
